Dove Prism optical component for image rotation
High precision Dove Prism made of BK7 glass

Dove Prism

A Dove Prism is an essential optical component widely used for applications that require accurate image rotation and inversion. When a beam of light enters the prism parallel to its base, the Dove Prism produces a 180° inverted image, making it highly valuable in optical instruments, imaging systems, and laser applications.

As a professional manufacturer, CSOPT provides Dove Prisms in a wide range of sizes and customized dimensions to meet diverse project requirements. Customers can also request specialized coatings or surface treatments to optimize optical performance for specific applications.

Key Specifications of Dove Prism:

  • Angular Tolerance: ±3′

  • Material Options: BK7 glass or high-purity Quartz

  • Dimensional Tolerance: ±0.15 mm

  • Surface Flatness: λ/8

  • Surface Quality: 20-10 scratch-dig (high precision optical grade)

  • Clear Aperture: ≥90%

Why Choose CSOPT Dove Prisms?

  • High Precision Manufacturing – Designed with strict tolerance control for reliable performance.

  • Custom Coating Solutions – Anti-reflection and protective coatings available upon request.

  • Versatile Applications – Ideal for beam rotation, image inversion, interferometry, and other advanced optical systems.

Corner prism

Corner Cube Retroreflector is always used to reflect the beam entering the prism face, regardless of its orientation to the beam. Corner cubes are widely used where precision alignment is difficult.

 Rhombic Prisms

Rhombic Prisms are used to display a beam laterally without changing it is direction. They may be coated to transmit part of the beam and produce two parallel and displaced emerging beams. Can be coated to produce a polarizing beam separator. Dimension and coating may be available by custom orders.

Rectangular prisms

A corner prism can completely reflect a beam of light at 90 degrees or 180 degrees. K9 (BK7) can be applied to optical systems from visible to infrared, and fused silica can be applied to various optical systems from ultraviolet to infrared. CSOPT can provide you with right-angled prisms of various materials and angle precision. Optical components with irregular shapes and non-standard sizes can be processed according to customer requirements.

Wedge

Wedge is an optical element having plane-inclined surfaces, usually, the faces are inclined toward one another at very small angles. Wedges divert light toward their thicker portions.

Polarized Beamsplitter Cubes

Beamsplitter Cubes diagram

A dichroic prism is usually made by gluing the bevels of two right-angle prisms, and a dichroic film is coated on the bevel of one of the prisms. The Prism dichroic films usually include metal dichroic films and dielectric dichroic films. Beam-splitting prisms are divided into non-polarized and polarized beam-splitting prisms (PBS).

T/R=50/50±5%,T=(Ts+Tp)/2, R=(Rs+Rp)/2。

A Beamsplitter Cube is a more sophisticated type consisting of two right-angle prisms cemented together at their hypotenuse faces. The cemented face of one prism is coated. Before cementing, a metallic or dielectric layer has the desired reflecting properties, both in the percentage of reflection and the desired color. The absorption loss to the coating is minimal and transmission and reflection approach 50%.

The dichroic plate is a dichroic element that is coated with a semi-transparent and semi-reflective film on the optical window to split the light beam into two beams. The beam enters a beam splitter which splits the energy into reflection (R%), lens (T%), and absorption. Spectroscopic flat films are often used as neutral filters.

Spectroscopic films are further divided into narrowband spectroscopic films and broadband spectroscopic films. Common wavelengths of narrow-band spectroscopic plates are 532 nm, 632.8 nm, 650 nm, 808 nm, 830 nm, 1064 nm, 1310 nm, 1550 nm, etc. Common wavelengths of broadband beam splitters are 400-700nm.
